Beast Mastery Hunter

Overview

Midnight class changes:
- Horsehair Tether moved to Class Tree (choice node with Tar-Coated Bindings)
- Ghillie Suit, Scatter Shot, Scrappy, Binding Shackles — all removed
- Aspect of the Cheetah initial speed burst doubled with talents
- Kill Shot moved to Marksmanship exclusively
- Muzzle/Counter Shot kick now grants 30 Focus (up from 10)
- Tranquilizing Shot no longer grants Focus

Hero Talents

Pack Leader (recommended Raid ST)
- Simple Hero Talent: Howl of the Pack Leader occasionally summons a Beast when Kill Command fires
- First Kill Command after Bestial Wrath summons a Stampede — a line of pets dealing heavy AoE
- Aim the Stampede line to cover as many targets as possible
- Shell Cover provides a decent defensive passive
- Recommended for most players and for Mythic+ as well when comfortable

Dark Ranger (recommended M+ defense)
- Smoke Screen: very easy access to Survival of the Fittest nearly constantly — exceptional survivability
- Slightly behind Pack Leader on raw numbers in raid
- Very slightly more M+ single-target but similar AoE; slightly worse priority target
- Recommended for M+ due to defensive profile

Tier Set — Hunter Beast Mastery 12.0

Apex Talent: Nature's Ally

Rotation — Single Target (Pack Leader)

Opener:
1. Apply Hunter's Mark (ensure it's active — coordinate with other Hunters)
2. Use all Barbed Shot charges before Bestial Wrath
3. Bestial Wrath + trinket + potion → Stampede lines up naturally
4. Continue with priority list

Core Priority:
1. Bestial Wrath — on cooldown (30s); primary burst window
2. Barbed Shot — all charges before Bestial Wrath comes back; maintain Frenzy stack
3. Kill Command — on cooldown; weave another ability between consecutive KCs (Nature's Ally)
4. Cobra Shot — during Bestial Wrath if Barbed Shot has <1.4 charges
5. Black Arrow — during Bestial Wrath (Dark Ranger only — high priority in BW window)
6. Wailing Arrow — 7 seconds before BW ends (fits into Withering Fire window)
7. Kill Command (weaved) — primary filler; never miss a cast

Key Rule (Nature's Ally): Every Kill Command should have at least one other ability between it and the next Kill Command. The 30% buff on Kill Command only applies after non-KC ability.

Rotation — AoE (Dark Ranger, M+)

Cooldowns

Defensives

Stat Priority

Agility > Critical Strike ≥ Haste > Versatility > Mastery
- Critical Strike is ahead of Haste for all-around content
- Haste is marginally better than Crit in pure single-target (small difference)
- Sim your character — weights shift with gear

Marksmanship Hunter

Overview

Note: Most of the time as Marksmanship, it is best to not use a pet at all — Lone Wolf passive significantly outweighs any pet DPS benefit.

Apex Talent (Marksmanship):
- Rapid Fire reduces Aimed Shot cooldown by 5s over its channel
- Aimed Shot always crits — but its damage is INCREASED by your crit chance value
- This reduces the value of Crit as a raw stat (since Aimed Shot always crits anyway) while still keeping it good

Hero Talents

Sentinel (recommended default — simpler)
- Replaces Spotter's Mark with Sentinel's Mark (more powerful in every way)
- During Trueshot: Trueshot button transforms into Moonlight Chakram — use as filler during Trueshot
- Simpler Hero Talent; recommended for most players and all content
- Best for Raid; best for most M+ scenarios

Dark Ranger (alternative M+)
- Smoke Screen: near-constant Survival of the Fittest access — exceptional survivability
- Slightly behind Sentinel on overall numbers
- Viable in M+ for the defensive profile
- Hydra Build (March 2026) provides a specific AoE-optimized variant for M+

Tier Set — Hunter Marksmanship 12.0

Rotation — Single Target (Sentinel)

Opener:
Aimed Shot → Rapid Fire → Trueshot + trinket + potion → Moonlight Chakram → Aimed Shot spam during Trueshot → post-Trueshot normal priority

Core Priority:
1. Trueshot — major DPS cooldown (~90s base, reduced by Calling the Shots); use on cooldown
2. Aimed Shot — primary damage ability; use on cooldown; use Lockdown procs first
3. Rapid Fire — on cooldown; reduces Aimed Shot CD via Apex
4. Kill Shot — below 20% target health (Marksmanship exclusive)
5. Precise Shots proc — Arcane Shot becomes empowered; consume before 2 stacks expire
6. Moonlight Chakram — during Trueshot window (Sentinel only); use as filler
7. Arcane Shot — Precise Shots filler or general filler

During Trueshot:
- Aim for maximum Aimed Shots inside the window
- Moonlight Chakram fills gaps between Aimed Shot casts
- Do not delay the Aimed Shot sequence

Rotation — AoE

Cooldowns

Stat Priority

Agility > Critical Strike > Haste > Versatility > Mastery
- Critical Strike: less raw value than usual because Aimed Shot always crits (via Apex), but still strong
- Haste increases Rapid Fire ticks and overall rotation speed
- Sim your character — the Apex talent interaction shifts weights

Consumables

Same as Beast Mastery: Agility flask, Recklessness potion, Phoenix Oil, food feast, Void-Touched rune.

Survival Hunter

Overview

Gameplay: Focus on Kill Command → Raptor Strike loop, managing Tip of the Spear stacks, and Wildfire Bomb delivery.

Hero Talents

Sentinel (recommended default — Raid and general M+)
- Sentinel's Mark procs from Tip of the Spear spending — buffs next Wildfire Bomb
- Trueshot → Moonlight Chakram filler (same as MM)
- Don't Look Back: passive tanking proc — near-constant uptime; great survivability
- Optimal for virtually all Raiding; default M+ choice for most players
- If you don't know which to pick, always pick Sentinel

Pack Leader (hardcore/competitive M+)
- First Kill Command after Takedown triggers a Stampede line (same as BM)
- Excellent priority-target DPS in M+
- Shell Cover buffs Survival of the Fittest effectiveness
- Only recommended if doing very high keys where prio damage matters significantly

Rotation — Single Target (Sentinel)

Core Priority:
1. Wildfire Bomb — on cooldown; primary burst ability; Sentinel's Mark buffs it via Tip of the Spear
2. Takedown (Kill Shot equivalent, Survival version) — on cooldown; summons Moonlight Chakram if Sentinel
3. Kill Command — on cooldown; primary CP-generator analog and damage; weave between Raptor Strikes
4. Raptor Strike — build Tip of the Spear stacks; use between Kill Commands
5. Coordinated Assault — major cooldown (~3 min); use on cooldown with trinkets and potion
6. Harpoon — mobility ability; charges to target; use for repositioning or range gap-closing

Cooldowns

Stat Priority

Agility > Critical Strike > Mastery > Haste > Versatility
- Mastery: Spirit Bond increases leech/pet damage
- Critical Strike feeds several passive interactions
- Sim your character for accurate weights

Consumables

Same as Beast Mastery: Agility flask, Recklessness potion, Phoenix Oil, food feast, Void-Touched rune.
Note: March 2026 update mentions old TBC-era Sharpening/Weightstones being optimal for Survival — check Icy Veins enchants page for current recommendation.
